Why is it that starting January 1st (after your hangover wears off) everything feels new and fresh? Did anything magical happen overnight to wipe the slate clean? Or is it simply a convenient time to actually forgive ourselves for all the crap that we’ve done this past year?
It’s the one time of the year that we’re naive enough to believe that we can actually change and not fall back into the same habits that have plagued us for so long. I’m fully aware that any proposed changes in lifestyle or self-suggestions for self-improvement will likely fall by the wayside come February. I’m a pessimistic-realist at heart, but I can’t help but being optimistic for 2009!
